At University Preparatory Charter School, we are changing the narrative for young men in the City of Rochester.

Our school opened its doors in 2010 with 157 students. Today, we’ve more than doubled that number and 96% of our students graduate on time with a Regents diploma, prepared for college or the workplace.

UPrep is a public charter school where young men come every day prepared to learn and participate in their educational experience. They know the value of their time, their relationships and the importance of applying what they learn to meet their personal and academic goals. Our daily attendance rate is above 90%.

UPrep faculty are dedicated to teaching male learners. Education methods engage students of all levels and address different learning styles. We work with every student to achieve his potential.

The UPrep campus encompasses two buildings on Lake Ave. A gymnasium is on site, along with a Career & Technical Education Center (CTE) designed for students to learn culinary arts, machining, building trades and information technology. The CTE Center was created with consideration for the needs of the Finger Lakes economy, and a focus on offering the skills needed for students to excel in college programs. We prepare our students for careers close to home or far away—whichever path they choose.

UPrep students in all grades 7-12 wear uniforms. This is a mandatory requirement and sets us apart as Griffin gentlemen. Uniforms include a white shirt, tie, dress shoes, slacks and a plain sweater or fleece.
